In sequel terms, does it match up to 'X-Men; The Last Stand'?

Well, I saw #3 last night, and it was rubbish...  even the young kids leaving the cinema were using expletives to describe it (quite accurately I thought).

The plot twists came so thick and fast that nobody had any idea what was going on (including SWMBO who is very good at these things), the special effects seemed to have been thrown in all over the place just for the hell of it, and by the end of it I had no empathy at all for any of the characters.

The film-makers should realise that just because you put in masses of CGI it doesn't mean it's a good film;  Star Wars Episode 1 compared to Episode 4 is the living proof.  You also need a good plot and emotional involvement.  Of course, they don't give a monkey's, they'll make millions out of it either way.

I know the whole point of this type of film is that it's fantasy, but there's a difference between fantastic and ridiculous

First one is excellent, plot works, everything good for a light hearted family romp.
Number two is tenuous to say the least, no real reason for any of em bumping into each other really , but it raises a laugh.
Sounds like number three is gonna be dissapointing. Shame, cos I really love the first one. I buy about 1 dvd per year to be honest, and I actually own Pirates. Says something for me.
Mebbe Im just tight???
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

not many films live upto their sequals. IMO these did a good job though:

Terminators (all 3)
Tremors (havent seen the fourth)
Aliens & AVP

PS: predator 2 was a let down IMO

but I have yet to see the first pirates. Im just not that keen on them. I had the film "Hook" forced upon me at an early age.

There's a mutant vs human war in the 3rd, when a 'cure' is manufactured.
Plus there's new (to the films anyway) mutants in it.
Beast, Callisto, Shadowcat (Kitty), Collosus gets a bigger role

'The Danger Room' features strongly (as do the Sentinels briefly)

There's still the rumours of a Wolverine film coming out as a prequel/sequel.
