Today's tale of woe.
« on: October 12, 2004, 16:28:03 »
Went to go out today. Didn't use the car yesterday after playing in Derbyshire at the weekend.

It won't start. No nothing. No dimming of the lights so not drawing loads of current to a jammed starter motor.

Voltage at the starter motor before the solenoid. Good earth.
Ah immobiliser?
Bypassed the immobiliser.
Still nothing.
Felt the nearside passenger footwell and the starter relay was clicking.
Unbypassed the immobiliser and checked again.
Relay was clicking.
Checked the feed to the solenoid.
Nothing. Relay was clicking.

Took the panel off to get to the relay. Tried again and could feel the relay was Ok. At least it was clicking.
Went to remove the relay. Took it off its mount and everything started working fine,
Looks like a poor connection on the relay contacts and removing it got it working again.

Must remember to get it replaced.

It's got to be cheaper than a new control box for the alarm.

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

I would think so. I'll check tomorrow. After all it's a only relay to click in a relay :)
