help.....
went today to try and fit my new centre cubby box to the defender.
tried to get the bolts off to the seat "runners" but they were just turning. looks like they are some kind of rawl bolt design but that is not the issue.
noticed that the base would just pull up so I pulled and underneath is a "diesel electronic control unit EGR" screwed to it with a plug coupler and a wiring loom attached.

what is it?
why is it there? (other than to keep it high and out of water)
where can I move it to or will it just screw to the bottom of the cubby box?

got a hell of a hangover so a bit happy not to do any work today but it will need done.

anyone help :?:  :?:

It's the EGR control unit ;-)

Screw it to the bottom of the cubby box...    or get rid of the whole EGR system altogether ;-)

Isn't EGR Exhaust gas recirculation?

Don't ask me how it does that from under the center seat mind...

It is the Exhaust Gas Recurculation Control Unit.
It controls the valve on your exhaust manifold to recirculate some of the exhaust gas back into the air intake.  This was Land Rovers way to keep the emisions in check.
You can blank off the valve on the manifold and insert a blank plate, or blank it off and completely remove the pipe from the manifold to the air intake, then remove the control unit for the EGR.

If you are not that bothered about it, as i wasn't when i fitted my cubby box, then just relocate it.
I fitted mine to the side of the security cubby box on the drivers side. Its out of the way, and i don't even notice it now.
