Storage bins
« on: November 28, 2006, 08:15:14 »
Hello

I own a TD5 '51 plate' 5 seater, and in the Owners Handbook on page 130, it has a picture of storage bins, they are where the extra seats would be for a 7 seater.

Does anyone know where I could get these from?,

I have asked our 2 local main dealer, and one they didnt know about them and the other one said "thats a good question I don't know, we have heard about them, but sorry we can't help"!!!!

Many thanks

It's only going to be from Land Rover. You need to find a dealer with a decent parts dept. or alternatively try somebody like Dingocrofts. I've always found them willing and able to source the slightly obscure stuff.

I don't know if these are the same as the ones in my mates Landy. They are similar to the ones you get on the doors. If they are don't bother. His keep coming off when ever he puts anything in them. Very flimsy. I am going to make my own out of some ply and batten.

any dealer with a proper parts department will be able to get them, the bins will have a landrover part number, that will be on the exploded drawing on their computer package.

i bet they're expensive though

From memory, the DII versions have a (lockable?) lid and are much more substantial than the simple affair in the DI.

Got mine last year from the dealer in Droitwich.  The guy even went through the tech specs to get all the screws and fixings. They do not have locks on the MY03 version and are easy enough to fit with a stubby screwdriver

Steve

PS, if your stuck, I can get them ordered

When i recently bought my disco the rear boot seats had been removed leaving 2 un-usable recesses.
I got some 1/2 inch ply, some metal angle brackets, and some black automotive carpet and made them myself... took a couple of hours but they look like they should be there.... and they wont fall apart....
