REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING
« on: November 29, 2006, 11:13:36 »
My disco is a 1996 with the 2 button key fob, the central locking works with the key fine, the key fob cancels the immobiliser fine but won't operate the door locks, has anyone got any suggestions where to look?

I would check fuses then start at the solenoids to see if there getting any power on operation of the remote, then work my way back from there!

Don't know if this helps but I had the same problem on my 1990 Disco. I found the alarm unit under the bonnet and fiddled with it a bit and suddenly it works fine.

rip open the cloth wrapped around the wiring loom by the battery and see how bad the wires are. Just fixed one that was dead and found out the open too the elements solder connetions had dropped off.

Got the key fob to work after about 50 presses, locked the car but would not unlock it, had to unlock with the key....ofcourse alarm went off..wehey! at least that works!!!  Bit the bullet and ordered a new key fob as the bits under the buttons have worn down (can't help the situation), thanks to gords advice (found through google) now know how to program it when I get it without going to the dealer....I'll see how I get on when it arrives!!!!
