Shogun Tyre size

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a '96 LWB Shogun. Can anyone tell me what size tyres will fit under it as standard? I've heard that 31's will fit fine but what will they do to the gearing? I've got a set of brand new 30x9.5 bfg MT's in the garage - I'm assuming they should be ok? But if 31 (or even 32's) will fit then i don't wanna be undertyred...!

I've got a Jeep XJ with 31x10.5r15 and the gearing is crap actually, it desperately needs a lower final drive.it makes those steep descents a bit bloody scary!

Thanks for the help guys

"Jolly Green", my 97 Jeep XJ, 3" lift, 31x10.5 MTR's. It overheats and it breaks UJ's but i love it and it's fun seeing the look on landy owners faces when i chug past them on a hill... :)

31s will be the largest size you can fit without a body lift or major hacking of the wheel arches.

They will alter the gearing but only in as much as to run the speedo at the correct speed    You should get more mpg as well, but a little less acceleration though - be the end of the boy-racer thing I'm afraid

you can easly fit 33's on a mk 2 pajero without to much work, to get the best out of them it would be advisable to fit a suspension kit such as the procomp ES 9000 kit with +2" overated rear springs then wind the front torsion bars up to level it off a little, thats all i did on mine and it worked fine and never rubbed even on full articulation such as langdale quest, the gearing wasnt a problem either even with 33's i could still tow my 24' long caravan all over the country and the paj is oly a 2.5
