I believe the Air-con 300 Discovery's have a 100amp alternator - quick google on "300tdi alternator" came back with one on Famous Four's site @ £120 or £65 for the 65amp.

Not sure if you'd need to uprate the cabling too  :?:

Is you alternator toast or MIA, if toast then get it repaired by your local auto electrician.  Electro Diesel in Worksop just repaired mine for £32+vat.

If missing then try your local scrap yard.  Many modern cars have alternators with 65 amp ratings and can easily by made to fit.  The Lucas 80 amp and 65 amp on the RRC have tha same fitting as Ford crossflows and CVH engines, in fact any car where it's left of the engine so you have plenty to choose from.

I definitely think the 80 amp should fit though because RRs had either 65 or 80 amp units

Update, had a look at all ther RRCs being broken at my local place and found they're all 65 amp ones, can only imagine the 80 amp one's were for air con models so that's where to look.  Ours was plobably upgraded, I think the previous owner has a winch which he kept

CHEERS, I'VE JUST BOUGHT A RANGIE FOR THE OTHER HALF UNTIL I'VE FINISHED HER DISCO  , THE IDEA BEING RUN IT TILL THE T&T EXPIRE THEN BREAK IT - BUT SHE'S FALLEN IN LOVE WITH IT.
HOWEVER IT'S GOT A 4ltr PERKINS DIESEL SO THE ALTERNATOR'S DIFFERENT.

P.S. WOT AN ENGINE!!!!!!!! YOU ONLY NEED 2 GEARS (2nd & 5th) ,90mph AT 2500rpm AND 35+ TO THE GALLON

DOWNSIDE; IT'S A BIT AGRICULTURAL IN THE MORNING UNTIL IT'S WARM BUT GREAT FOR PLOUGHING :!:

Err, MZ6666 - would you mind switching Caps Lock off and writing in lower case. I keep thinking you are shouting at us   :)

No offense meant and if you like all upper case then ignore me and carry on :)
