finally heard the line
« on: December 21, 2006, 15:31:29 »
well it has finally happened. SWMBO has said the line "this landrover is turning in to a money pit!!!!!!!"
i was trying to get the centre seat out to install a cubby box. lying underneath trying to undo the seat retaining nuts while my dad was inside holding against me with a spanner i noticed the chassis needs a bit of welding.
cant get the nuts off by any of my available means so i mention to SWMBO that it will have to go to the garage for welding and to get the nuts off ( and some other toys that I have yet to mention to her    ) and then it happened, she said "this bloo*y landrover is turning in to a money pit"
had to happen I suppose, but it only took one year for it to be said.
tried explaining that it was just neccessary work but I think I was loosing before I started

The answer...... get your good lady to buy a 4x4!!

Sarah has taken the 'if you can't beat em, join em' approach and is having a 2" lift and BFG's on the Freelander..... and she said roof lights would be 'useful' (yes, 'useful'!!)

   Does she have a sister?

I had that at the very first fill-up.  From empty...  "BL**DY HOW MUCH!" was the scream from the passenger seat as everyone else on the forecourt ducked for cover.

I've still managed bumpers, guards, A/T tyres (which now need to be M/T), a lift, Patriot roof rack and some other add-ons.  I just turn the music up really loud.

O dear Robert, you will have to show Lesley pictures of mine and say " But look what Helen has spent since she was at clog!" Oh hang on that wouldnt work........ I only ever have to fill her up     Ok different tactic, show her pics of mine and say "Remember Helen from drumclog? Well I too could have one like that if you would just let me spend a bit more!" and tell her I definately think its worth it

The dear Lady Shagg-Pyle has said the same thing on numerous occasions, so I said "Ok, I'll get it turned into tin cans"
Her Ladyship asked why, so I said "Why? To put your three horses in of course!"
She no longer noans.

SWMBO moans and groans about the Disco and the 110 being 'big' cars, and leaving their 'marks' on the drive, costing lots to fill up, needing new bits now and then............but when she wants to borrow one of them, it's a whole different matter

SWMBO wont drive the zook offroad but love it and is as bad as me for looking for things to bolt on it.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Nut splitter?

Mrs F is abroad quite a lot now so I've been using her Rover 220 diesel to economise.  It's quite fun to drive (same engine as in early Freelanders, but in a car which weighs a lot less) but the main thing is it costs about 1/3 as much in fuel as going somewhere in the Discovery (don't even ask about the 101).  In our household the Land Rovers have always cost much, much more than her car.
