Mini diggers
« on: October 22, 2004, 12:53:45 »
Just spent all day yesterday shifting about 20 tons of brick and concrete rubble to improve access to our fields. Hired one of those 'twist in the middle' front bucket diggers. What a hoot! After the first 10 mins, was whizzing around (whizzing is a relative term!) with ease.

4 wheel drive (hydraulic), turning circle of cat, but not enough axle articulation for my liking  :D

The driver of the 6 wheeler that delivered the brick rubble was rather brave trying to back down the muddy lane. All credit to the guy. He only bottled out when the truck started sliding on the side slope towards the moat! So we dumped it there and blocked the lane for most of the day.... illegal obstruction on a public right of way, shame on me

So hopefully the 110 won't dig huge ruts in the lane this winter.

Sound like you've had a fun day, can we all come & have a go?

But for any frustrated 'Bob The Builders' & you're near enough (or on holiday there)

Me?
I got sent to IKEA this morning     & then the 'White Rose Centre' (shopping 'mall' in Leeds.

Then I met 'Pete 5844' to exhange some bumper D-Ringsfor some 'folding', so at least I saw a friendly face.

Also managed to have a look at the new Octavia (met Pete next to the Leeds main dealer)
Very nice, preferable to the Mondeo SWMBO has.

Men and fire (BBQ's, bonfires, etc)..... but I think it is actually men and digging holes!!

BTM. A friend of mine looked long and hard for an everyday car. BMW 3 series estate was the most likely until he drove a turbo diesel Octavia estate. Nicely screwed together, I thought, but just a bit bland. But it does it's job very well.

It's a great car, almost a VW quality-wise, but the masters at Wolfsburg keep the higher grade interior materials aside for VW.

There was (a is supposed to coming when new one's arrive) a 4x4 estate. It was onlyavailable in hte UK as a 1.8Turbo (the Golf GTi/Audi/Seat engine), the Continental markets received the 1.9Tdi (130) derivatives
