Good news ................... the second garage has said it doesn't need swivel things and it's going to cost about £200 for the lot  :D

thank you for all the offers of help and encouragement though i really appreciated them!

always pays to visit a garage  that actually knows about Land Rovers...heard a few stories of disco's etc being failed bacause handbrake doesnt lock on the rollers (erm its a transmission brake!!!!!)

you could get away without a lot of the things on that list anyhow.

Swivels are an MOT fail if they leak - but you can cover them up with leather gaitors (a few quid each), and put grease in instead of oil to stop it leaking.

You could cope without the secret box! If stuff is falling out then put a bit of wood in the bottom to cover the hole or simply empty it and remove the remains if necessary.

The other bits are all trivial. The parts are all a few quid and you could easily pay someone in food/drinks to do them in an afternoon or two!

Try a landy friendly garage. Sounds like he's trying to MOT a 2006 car, not a 1960 Series II.

Wrong bolt in the suspension, that's like £1 to sort out!
Amber is a 1971 Series IIa with a 2286 petrol
