I am about to advertise a car for sale with AutoTrader, but can't decide whether to do the magazine as well as the web site.

Web site for 2 weeks = £16.99.
Mag + Web site for 2 weeks = £50.00 upwards

Do many people still get the magazine when looking for a car?

I don't you can search web for free & you can look in a wider area.

I sold my motorbike through Autotrader & did web only & got a lot of enquiries.

Good luck with the sale of your car  :D

Talk to Dyfed ('Strapping Young Lad'), as he works for the company that publish it.

He may be able to shed some light on comparative figures for you

I struggled on auto trader, then put it in the local rag and had lots of calls and sold it for the asking price.

I also got £225 for a 1996 Fiesta diesel, it was a cat B right off on ebay!

However in the past Autotrader has served me well, expecially the web version.

I about to put in a 02 reg mini one in BRG and a 4 berth caravan. (not as a job lot though  )

I am going to wait until Feb though before I advertise as nobody will be interested this time of year surely? everyone will be feeling poor. I know I am!!! Or is now a good time with people looking for bargains?

One of the problems, especially for the trade, is how slow the magazine now appears compared to the web.  If you sell a car on the web you can remove it and upload another motor in it's place for the same fee, when you advertise 10 at a time that is

When I was buying my Zuk, I told the dealer there was one the same just down the road for £1000 cheaper...
He crancked his computer up and said show me... I got on to auto traders web site and found the car... He then reduced his by a £1000

I was happy with that!
