35s on a 200 TDI 110
« on: January 04, 2007, 16:56:54 »
Im coming back to landie seen again after many years of zuks and looking at possibilities

i presume you need a 2 inch lift as 33s go straight on stock, anything else like trimming?

whats the gearing like, i can see you can get more power out the 200tdi but low box off road does it have a major effect,  in hi will it still maintain nice 65-70mph up hills on the motorway
 bearing wear etc,

the 200 TDI 110 will be used to go to far away places so will see a fair amount of road use running a MT type tyre over the more agressive simex type,

Would i be just as well to stick with 33s to keep the reliability there with good gearing.

ive been used to a massive 140 % gear reduction in low range and it nice not to have to drive the point and shot option of too high a gear. anyone running 35 can you give me your oppion please. or any gearing options.
Cheers Markyb

now afink the 110's run a 1.6 transfere box, wich, in conjunstion with 35inch tyres gives not bad results

to help abit here, my 90 runs std diff ratios and a std transfer box and tyre wise has 35 inch simex, before fitting uprated intercooler it was ok but bit crap, now i got a full width intercooler, it absolutly flys up hills fully laden (around 2.35ton ish mark)
so with muds that got less resitance, it shouldnt be bad

if any of that makes sense

yeah ,  nice one mate,

will get Steve to do a bit of fuel pump tweaks, yeah bigger shinny intercooler is on the list.

maybe a tweak of the turbo with out destroying the head gasket.

35s is more so when i go playing i dont get stuck in the ruts left behind by the simex crowd :-)  or at least attempt not to get stuck behind :-)

other question is ARB in the saisbury diff.  heard different things so far,
i remeber the shimms and setting the preload whilst in the car, painful setup from what i can rember unlike zuk diff rangies etc.

in the arb install you leave the pinion alone, is there old carrier an easy one to remove i heard you might need to stretch bits to get it fitted. in to the housing,   but the limited saisbury diff experience i have was many moons ago and it was just to inspection type and setup checks,

Have a silly urge to go take one apart now,lol

The series? not the suzuki route.

Regarding the 35's, is it the 90 Tbox you need to change for lower gearing or was it that if you had 90 you wanted 110 tbox for same reason?

well that is obvious because i don't have a defender, but I thought the ratios were different on the 110 to the 90.

hi all,
well i run a 300 tdi on bfg 35s and it pulls fine on and off road, all i did was remove centre box fit kn filtter and tweak pump a little
that is allso mated to a disco transfer box for top speed to.

I have rear salisbury axle with arb in it, you dont touch the pinion shaft all you do is fit crown wheel onto new hub and shim up as required the instructions are v v good.

but you will need a tool to slightly compress the axle case as this provides the preload on the bearings.
i have access to the said tool if needed[/b]
above all its a rover,
if its not bust you cant mend it,
you bend it we mend it,
