Moving parts were helpful but expensive, i've mailed MBE to see what they say :)

I could probably find a courier but all international ones refuse to give prices (even rough ones) unless you have a business account!!!

I've been quoted $250 (£125 ish) EACH so far which seems a bit excessive!

Can't the winch seller/supplier in the US give you any prices? It would be in their intrest if they want to sell them.

they have but @ $250 each its rather pricey. Still works out at a massive saving over UK but i'd rather not pay that  much!

Watch the vat you will be charged by Customs.
UPS charge that and a handeling fee on top
I would haggle with the supplier
 Some timed we can trip our selves up trying to save a bit more when we are saving a lot all ready
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

Duty is approx 4% and vat is obviously 17.5% on top of the lot (price, shipping and duty! - cheeky gits!)

It works out a LOT cheaper than the UK, the sole supplier seems to be a touch overpriced when even after shipping, vat etc i can get 2 for the price of 1!!

barnhill4x4 - i'll give terry a shout and see if he can help, thanks :)

I know what you're going through, I've just tried to buy a weather station from Davis Instuments in the US. The thing is over £600 in the UK but only £303 from Davis.
But, Davis won't accept a non-US credit card and they won't supply the UK version of the weather station to any US companies.
So if I want it then I HAVE to get it in the UK and pay nearly double!!  :x

Tight B*ggers!

Thankfully MM winches are pretty much the same US or Uk spec, if anything the US spec is higher and whilst it might have different hydraulic pipe fittings that isnt a problem as hoses are custom made anyway :)

My dad runs a freight warehouse at heathrow, if you Pm all the details i can ask him, also if the winches are for sample purposes, theres no duty on them!

Yes it is in our favour however it means that the Americans can charge an extra 10 - 25% for the shipping which would not affect us.

Like you say even paying the extra shipping price you still are better off I would bite the bullet and go for their shipping (I have already on a winch motor - still got it for half the price in this country)  the shipping on the motor was $100 which seems more expensive that your shipping

I've heard ups charge extra on top of the shipping price as well so be careful with them

the US mile markers come with a bigger flow capacity pump & bigger flow capacity inside the winch AFAIK

How much are you 'not in a hurry'?
We go into San Fran in Feb but are not back to the UK until April.
You would need to sort something out with customs and get it to the ship in San Fran on the right day though.
