MY 90 BUILD
« on: January 10, 2007, 16:18:15 »
thought i'd keep a bit of an on-line blog thingy of how my build is-or is not progressing as kind of a insentive for me....plus you lot will probably spot all the things i'm doing wrong and point them out before it go's completely Pete Tong

The donor vehicle/victim (the one at the back) 1989 2.5 n/a diesel

The strip down- if i say the o/s door and front wings along with the chassis were salvageable then it quicker than listing all the rotten scrap i've thrown away!

stripped and most of the chassis cleaned and liberly coated with hammerite just the rear x-member to replace

And as if by magic!

Nasty rotten bulkhead binned

Brand new one painted ready to fit

Ta-Da!!!

Nice 2nd hand tub sourced

Prepped

And painted both underneath and on top(i'm hoping mud wont stick so well to a shiny surface

and fitted to the freshly renovated chassis(quite a relief when it lined up with the new x member!

I have done other stuff to like fitt the dash to the bulkhead and mount the engine and box plus the seat box is all painted and lookin very nice even if its not yet fitted,But i dont have any photo's of engine/box and seat box yet but i'll keep you posted with how i'm getting on in the coming weeks

cheers Lenny

I have about 10 liters of waxoyl which  im going to put inside the chassis the out side of the chassis has been thoroughly cleened back to nice metal and liberaly coated in Hammerite i belive this will be better than simply blasting it with waxoyl as i'm building it to off road and found that mud likes to stick to waxoyl where as mud can be easily jet washed off of hammerite even when its been allowed to dry
