is it me or *is* there a conspiracy against the 4x4?
My daughter was doing her school homework this afternoon which was about the fors and against of fishing with a reasonably balanced piece of writing about why you should fish and why you wouldnt etc etc
one of the paragraphs in the "for" part said anglers contribute to the economy by paying for equipment, selling what they catch blah blah blah and buying 4x4,s so they can go fishing :?

in the questions about it one of them was "why do anglers often use their 4x4"?

my daughter is 10 and has been suitably primed to answer any anti questions in class but i wonder what the respone to the question should be?

I know quite a few anglers, and it seems alot have a 4x4 simply to get down lane's to be near there fishing pegs.
Also I can see that the next target by the anti's will be the fishermen, now that they have had their way with the hunting fratenity.
Talking to a fishing pal of mine, and if fishing were to be banned the rivers would go the same way the green lane's have gone, fishermen do report any problems, ie polution etc etc, and yes he does have problems with ramblers moaning about his pole obstructing the path they need to walk along. :x
They will never be happy.

Think that has nearly been on the cards quite a few times, still wouldn't want to throw a rambler into the river might get his bobble hat wet

No, it's not you, I think there IS a conspiracy theory.  I've highlighted before the tendency for the press to always refer to a 4x4 or Land Rover whenever there is any sort of incident involving one, even if that's totally irrelevant to the incident, therefore managing to give the subconscious impression that they're a force of evil.

people tend to buy 4x4's as a very versitille vechile takse our's
 1) i go to school in her -  to take my children to school and myself to work

2) our family run around - 7 seats for 6 of us for shopping i can't carry anything so i do have to nip every where in her

3) she takes us on holidays with aour caravan

4) she takes out for road days as well as off road days

WHAT I TELL ANTIS IS SHE MAY WELL BE A 4X4, 2.5TDI BUT SHE IS CHEAPER TO RUN, INSURE AND MORE FUN TO DRIVE AND YES GIVES OUT LESS EMMISIONS THAN A NEW MINI!!

one reply was quote' well thats not what it says on the news'
my reply
' well you should check for yourself, as the results will be enlighting'

It's already started mate. The League against Cruel Sports, PETA, ALF etc have already started to target fisherfolk (please note use of PC terminology  ). People have been assaulted, had tackle broken or chucked in the water and fishing matches have been disrupted.
A couple of sabs tried to have a go my son when he was fishing near Aldershot.
He had just come back from 'a rather sandy place, where lots of nasty men were shooting at him' and that would have been his first bit of peace and quiet, so he got a bit angry.
Needless to say, they left him alone after that.
