Private Car Leasing For Business Use
« on: January 16, 2007, 20:52:06 »
Can anyone out there couple of simple questions please?

SWMBO works for a company that was relatively autonomous within its parent company (which is a a huge multi-faceted concern)

She's presently running a Mondeo Ghia TDCi, but has been told that the parent company has no company cars.
Instead they give a monetary sum every month (plus a fuel card), which may probably be heading her way soon?

It all seems wrong to me, you buy/lease the car, pay the servicing/taxing & get hammered for insurance a its used for business purposes

(for her it's a tool, not a perk, as she does probably(?) 20 - 25,000miles per year on business)

So...
1.
For the (at the moment hypthetical) sum of £350 - £400 per month, what kind of leasing deal can she get??, ie; what class of car? (incorporating a service agreement)

2. She's not VAT registered, how does this affect the lease types available?

3. Looking (briefly) at the small print, all the personal leasings seem to limit to between 10 & 12,000miles per year.
Can she (& how much extra would it be) organise a 30,000/unlimited mileage lease??

4. She fancies a Jaguar (would prefer a 'S-Type'), could she even begin to consider one?

Thanks in advance

She can have!

There is a whole bigger picture incuding tax relief too... but she can opt for a PCP, personal contract purchase and maintenance contract, I'd not include tyres.... over 30k per year with no deposit subject to lease company and a letter from employer (Mercedes Finance Do This) you spread the payments over 3 or 4 years.

The cost of the interest can be offset against tax and all business mileage for fuel and maintenance claimed back at (depending on company) good rates and this too is tax free...

It is a good scheeme but needs explaining properly.... In a few months I hope to be a Network Vehicles agent / franchisee and could advise and quote, if you want to talk to a top broker PM me and I'll put you in contact with a top bloke near Leicester! he is a network agent and Network are part of Lease Plan.

Just to add.....

Take the P11d Value of a mondeo executive.. sorry JAG

for that grade of car she must be a 40% tax payer...... thus saving about £ 2500 cash per year in tax plus fuel benefit at about £ 1800..... all cash, plus your £ 300 per month youve got £ 8,000 to play with.......

now.. you've got £ 650 / 700 per month and a mondeo exec.... sorry did it again... JAG wont cost you that!

She could get a cool New mondeo offroad... sorry New F/Lander and some mods for that!

Thanks 'Fudge'. I'll print that off & show her

Incidentally we looked at the price of a Range Rover TDV8 on one site; circa £760/month
