:)  :) I presently pay about £23.00 per month for a Sky TV package which gives me the Discovery/documentary channels only...I am getting increasingly fed up with the many repeats on these channels and with Sky TV in general...am I by myself on this one...on a similar theme has anyone noticed just how BBC News are absolutely state controlled regarding what they are allowed to report on...for this reason alone I refuse to watch or listen to the News on BBC...rant over,I feel better now......Back to my corner

we stopped having sky about 8/9 years ago then it cost nearly £40 month for everything, and it was constant repeats, and on top of that they started charging per film when i was already paying for the films channels.(there was only 2 or 3 then!)
now i am considering having it again, as for the larger screen tvs, need perfect reception or they are crap, and as digital tele is very crap here thought i would get sky again!
will i be making a big mistake?
is it still the same programs shown day in day out for 2 months at a time.?

I threw Sky out a long time ago.
I live in Stockton on Tees in the NE of England.
The news on Sky went well for some time. Then I started to get News SE on my set.
I 'poned Sky to ask why.
"Well that's what you've paid to get" Nobody understood the geography of England or even the UK at Sky.
They didn't know the difference between London and Newcastle on Tyne.

i have sky just for the sport. dont watch anything else on it, (i so rarely perch in front of the telly anyway) but when a sport game is on, i will.
the trouble is sport is so badly covered on the terrestrial channels my only real option is to have sky for sport.

as i say i dont watch much TV, prefer to be outside working on the landy or on the farm!

Same here - i;ve told them i'm sick of watching the same programs and that the amount of money they charge i'm sure they could make some new ones, also i emailed EUROSPORT yesterday and asked why they bother putting program listings up because they are never right,
ie: DAKAR @ 22.00-switch on Monday evening looking forward to it as spent the entire day in hospital having knee surgery and it's SNOOKER.
Switched on Tuesday @ 17.00 says SNOOKER and guess what-that's right it's the flamming DAKAR RALLY that they should have screened on Monday.

We kicked them into touch about 5 years ago and it was the hardest thing we ever did, I think it took 4 months of us refusing to pay (I cancelled the Direct debit payment) and me telling them that we didnt use it for them to actually stop sending us the signal....... I have teeth pulled with less pain and hassle :x

Sky resigned itself when the box packed up, couldn't be a**d to get it repaired as the programs would still be the same ones.  Buy a digibox as all the best stuff is on digital, even this is repeated to death (life on mars started this week though :D ).

we have sky for the broadband tbh. The cost of the channels plus BB is the same as the cost of my old ISP.

Still took us nearly 2 months to get the BB working though and the only reason we stuck with it was that cable customer service was even worse than sky.

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

I have a clinical allergy to Rupert Murdoch, so it's Freeview all the way here.  With a Freeview HDD recorder, I can sit down at any time and know I have things to watch if I want to.  Not sure I'd want to pay extra money to record other stuff I wouldn't have time to watch.
