does anyone know if a 2.5  1990 disco has the same gearbox as a 3.5 k plate box as am looking at  buying one but need to know if its the same  ps i know that this is on the  genral  and not on the disco  i have also placed this on the disco side  this is due to it being time sencitive  many thanks

They'll be different.  Not in the gearbox itself (unless the R380 was introduced earlier than the 300?), but the input shaft is different.

I think it is, but I'm no expert on the LT77S gearbox.

Did you mis-type your initial post?  You posted 3.5 Litre, which usually means the 3.5 Litre Rover V8.

If it's a 2.5 Litre that you meant and not a 3.5 Litre, then they should be very similar if not identical.

i think what he meant, rich, was is the gearbox in a 2.5 (tdi, obviously) the same as in a 3.5 (v8, obviously).
