The pig's developed a cough......Sorted? It is now!
« on: January 22, 2007, 19:28:44 »
Anyone here help with a problem that the pig(1996 300Tdi) has developed?
She will cough for a half a second, all electrics are lost, radio lights etc and the glow plug light will illuminate but the engine doesn't die.

I have tried the obvious, loose leads from battery, loose lead to starter motor even the solenoid connector that manages fuel to the engine but all to no avail. Now bearing in mind the old girl was drowned some months ago, could it be something to do with the fuse box? Is the main ignition relay in there?

All of it was under water, but it's strange it's taken this long to manifest itself.

Any ideas

Yes there is a good chance it is due to the drowning, it will take a while for all the terminals to start to corrode, it may be worth taking all your fuses and relays out one by one cleaning the contacts ams lightly smearing them with vasaline and replacing them

Thanks Joker stripped out all the dunked fuses etc and found it to be a faulty flasher relay shorting. I have no idea why it was causing everything to cut oot.......... oops, went back to my mother tongue then  but i dried it out gave it a squirt with WD type stuff and it's fine. New one on order just in case

I got my camera back working again, still want the pictures of the roof bar or are you buying a new one?

Just an update to end this thread. It was the immobiliser that had become corroded due to the, cough, slight water ingress
