Having rebuilt a Discovery (Well Almost!!!) I now have a problem with the clutch
There is no resistance on the pedal
Bled the clucth but still not working, I am now replacing the slave and resealing the master but I am a bit woried about the clutch plate being seized on the flywheel
Whats the method of releasing the clutch, is it a gearbox move?????
And is there a spring on the inside of the cabin on the clutch pedal??
This is all thats stopping it running I have promised SWMBO that its finished this weekend

I've been told to start it in gear with the clutch out at full revs, my mate done this with the seized clutch on his sj and it worked a treat, doesn't do a lot for gearbox and tranfer box though!

Swapped a slave on a RRC recently with a mate, it takes 2 of us to bleed one up ok. Try bleeding from the pipe at the master cylinder first, if you have air in the top of the pipe you will never bleed it up. Then you have to bleed quite a lot of fluid out because of the stupid pressure thingy mounted on the belhouosing flange, it also traps air. Apparently it came from the Metro, say no more.

The fork went on mine - repeated pressing of the clutch pedal resulted in a stiff, unmoveable, pedal because the slave cylinder had pushed it's rod right out until it hit the housing.
If the pedal still goes up and down, just with no resistance, I would say it's possbily something else. I assume the fluid isn't escaping anywhere?

Its not the fork............ I checked it before fitting the box
can only be the hydraulics just awaiting new cylinders or the plate rusted on the flywheel
It can wait until the weekend

anyone planning to replace their clutch, buy a new fork and weld a bit of plate over the back of it, stops it pushing through again...

Well replaced the seals in the master cylinder and replaced the slave
Still no go
Anyone got a picture of the master cylinder pulled apart I just need to check the seal directions
I am still leaning towards the hydrolics as I had the slave off and could stop it with my finger
I am almost sure I have all the air out
Any other ideas?????

I have had the gearbox out replaced all the clutch,
Replaced the Clutch master cylinder, Slave and still no go
So after 6 Hours trying to bleed the damm thing and toying with the idea of a lighted match and setting fire to it
I found then relised that the slave cylinder 'may be' upside down   ie the vent should be above the inlet................. after a quick couple of phone calls (thanks lads) it may be the case
Turned it the right way up and the damm thing was bled in 20 minutes
Just need to do the brakes and its a runner.............thank god
