I am with the RAc anyway and a day trip to france cost me £15. Worth giving them a try as if you try the recovery co your with your not having to buy thier annual package which I guess is how you got the £210 quote?

heritage (https://www.heritage-quote.co.uk/products_breakdown.php) do a european breakdown service. It cost me about £30 quid for a week on my car.
All their policies actually include it by default. I have a £130 classic policy with limited miles on my 2A and it includes the european breakdown! I could only just get there and back within my annual mileage limit!

You could try ADAC

Its a european service.

When I lived in Germany it cost me 70 euros for the year, this covered me roadside and home start in the uk and eurpoe.

They should be able to supply an english speaking operator

I have an english leaflet for them if its any good to you.

Britannia Rescue do European coverage.  And they don't try to stiff you if you have an older car,  RAC wanted a 30% premium on my 8yr old Discovery for a trip to France last year.
