Holiday price rant
« on: February 04, 2007, 13:03:46 »
Madness ...total madness

Just checked the price for a well known holiday resort owned by the french.

A villa to sleep 2 adults and 1 under 16 for a monday to friday break at the end of May (summer half term) is £720 !!!!!!!! self catering at that.

On a whim I checked out the prices for one of the same chains resorts in belgium. Same accomadation comes in at 400 euros (£270?)

I know it is the law of supply and demand with holiday times being different but a difference of £450 is just taking the pee.

Its a LOT cheaper even when you take into account petrol and ferry costs.

are you talking about eurocamp?

thing is prices will be dearer when the kids are off cos thats when they make the most money.

we make the most during the kids holidays cos we're chocker, now though we're half full, but the price doesnt change.

dont you find it odd though that its the same room being tidied or the same flight being flown but for some reason costs a lot more to fly during certain times of the year

and school Heads wonder why parents 'extend the school holidays'!

I work as a secretary in a boarding school and have to take my holidays during school holidays.  I don't even get all the school holidays off

If I have a towcar by then, we may well be staying on a Caravan Club CL this summer - the price generally stays the same all year round.

This is why I got into caravnning.  My Sister has to take her holidays during the school breaks and as anyone with kids or a job in education knows that's expensive.

Well when the site fees on a CC site double peak season thats' still only £8 a night per person (or something like that) and I don't have to worry about the last 'guest' having wet the bed
