Got my 300 from http://www.thedefendercentre.co.uk. A few others I know have got from there, and been very happy. Many are ex-utility, but they are very well prepped.

Bought my current one from http://www.silkstone4x4.co.uk. They had plenty of 90's and 110's on the forecourt when I bought it.

Cheers

There aint no good dealers... they'll all skin you alive for your cash given the chance. On top of that you'll probably end up paying £2k+ more than the vehicle is worth....

MRM.... offer you stupid money for your car, and then get offended when you tell them that they are having a laugh, and that they can stick their offer....
When they do buy stuff, just add a large mark up... and I don't actually know what you are paying for.  But that's just my opinion!!!

William, you'd be much better off finding some one local to you who knows Land Rovers (not just someone who thinks they do) and go looking privately... you'll get a lot more Land Rover for your money!!!

You do realise how much your going to have to pay for proper CSW???
 - and don't pay good money for a CSW that wasn't a CSW when it came from the factory.  Lots of ways to check!!!

What's wrong with your current 90.... better the devil you know at times.

Why not just save up for a 200Tdi engine, and convert yours to a 'CSW' spec??
Or if you want to spend a bit more, have yours converted to 300Tdi.  Most of the time you can pick up 300Tdi engine and R380 gearboxes for a lot less than a Defender spec 200Tdi engine.

And the conversion isn't that hard...

A little pricey personally, but if it was from a dealer then it will be.

Whereabouts in the UK are you based mate? PM me with the rough location and if you are in my area (south west ish) I may have a car for you which a mate is selling.

Sure we could sort something out...

What Disco engine?? 200 or 300Tdi??
Not really a fan of putting Disco spec 200Tdis in Defenders... but will if needs be. They work fine, but always look untidy IMHO..

Drop me a pm if you want with a few more details...

Not a bad price if it comes with everything... i.e radiator, intercooler, all pipe work.

Really want a Defender spec R380, not a Disco one.

Engine is the same though, bar a couple things.

To do an 'as factory' conversion you also need:

Front and rear propshafts
R380 Gearbox crossmember
300Tdi exhaust
300Tdi seatbox, floor panels and bulkhead adaptor (I've got one) - and a couple of other bits.

Not sure how much I can get an engine/box for, but would also be able to get all the other bits and pieces too.

What’s your budget? As just about to put mine up forsale, just got to finish polybush kit and fit timing belt kit. It not had to much modified on it just lift kit, steering guard, mantec snorkel and some BFG 33" MT's (also std spare wheels if fancy doing a very long journey or towing a long way) so it's rdy for greenlaning/Pay and play etc without any more expense

200tdi is easier to fit (straight onto existing mounts - as long as the base vehicle isn't a V8 )

A 300tdi is more involved, but nothing that bad... main difference is the fact you'll have to weld new engine mounts on and 'ideally' (IMHO) fit an R380 gearbox too - although it can be put onto an LT77.

1994 L Reg Land Rover Defender 90 CSW

Sound vehicle, I used to drive it around until I got my one. Only has two of the folding seats in the back at the moment as the two nearest the rear door were removed for more space.

The bodywork has the usual scrapes and dents. HD bumpers front and rear with recovery points, steering guard, light guards, 1" lift (I think, or it may even be 2"), 235 MT's on steel rims. Sort of gun metal blue colour with chevrons down the side. 145,000 miles on the clock. Never had a problem with it and I have just replaced the head gasket in it in early November last year.
