Allo' all

I have managed to get my 98 Grand Cherokee in a great shape now to be able to sell it.
However, I took it the main dealer a few months back to have a look at an electrical fault, they had no idea where to look or even what to look for.
They turned off my VIC, the small display in front of the gears. They didn't turn off the sounder though so about 10 seconds after I start the engine it bleeps at me.

I know that a seller is going to ask what the noise is (just the service counter down to 0 i think)

Question:
Does anyone know how to turn the screen back on?
It is plugged in at the back and all the fuses seem to be in place.
It has me stumped (not difficult)

Many thanks
Ade

They couldn't even fix a simple electrical fault!!
Turns out it was one faulty relay, they did there full diagnostic tests at £120 per hour and came up with "Your battery's had it mate"

I gave it to a local garage, next day, done £15!!

I'd rather keep away from main dealers now

Youre referring to sh*itehouse ? Maindealers are cr*p unless you have unlimited overdraft.I have haynes manual for g.c.and will have a look tomorrow, it says how to reset service counter but dont know about blank display.
You can get a haynes manual for a  g.c. direct from haynes ,although its for yank market just about eveythings the same.
Dont be tempted by'rare & difficult to obtain'manuals from that well known auction site ,probably came from somerset!

Thanks for the link Peter, I'll give him a try.

I would've got a haynes manual but I have never intended on keeping it this long. As Steve said (Morning Steve!!) I have had nothing but trouble with this motor.
I've had it  about 2 years and have been problem free for about 4 months of it.

It's going next month regardless, got some cash coming in hopefully so if I don't get a private sale before then it's gonna be part ex'd.

Steve, as I'm getting rid of it I want to be as tight as possible   I just thought there maybe a switch hiding somewhere that I've not found

maybe check the fuses inthe drivers side footwell panel. top row rh end no. 6,  3rd row 5th no.17, and 4th row 2nd fuse no.20.
these affect other circuits too so if everything else is working maybe they switched it off with the scan tool.
To reset service milage when its on, press 'select ' then press and hold 'set' button for at least 2 seconds with ignition on.Thats what it says in the handbook that came with the jeep.

Yeah, I did have a look. Lovely and comfy down there too!!!!

But alas all the fuses were in place, The sounder still works though. I've got to a great condition now so all I can think it is, is the service counter gone down to 0.

Anoying really, if the sounder didn't come on I could've just told people it was broken
