Does anybody have any thoughts on alloy steering guards (Rebel type)?

I use one of their heavier duty ones with the built in recovery points, although these have been superceded by the ones on the winch bumper. Took a little juggling to get it to fit (leave all fixings loose until assembled and then tighten them). It has taken a few knocks and looks to be surviving OK!

There are more substantial guards on the market. Many here favour the Southdown item for more serious off roading.

Depends what you are aiming to do. Greenlaning and 'pay and play' days shouldn't tax the Rebel item too much. Something more substantial might be worth thinking about if you are likely to give it serious grief  :D

All these steering guards can hinder progress in deep mud where they act like a plough. And as for backwards....... wondered why the steering was heavy after being towed out backwards once. The guard was so full of mud, it was interfering with the drag link!
