ive been busey lately  :lol:

removed 2" lift kit
fitted heavy duty standard height springs
fitted standard shocks
re-finnished the old alloys
fitted general grabber at2 245/70/16
fitted 30mm wheel spacers
300tdi disco

the disco spends 99.9% of the time on road

so for better handling, braking, steering, comfort etc

the kids can get in easier, better mpg with the A/T's

and i like fiddling with it  :shock: , so instead of going higher and bigger

i went smaller and lower, to remind myself how good a standard disco is  8)

it also looks better for it, and will still do everything i ask of it off road

gonna be doing some long haul journeys soon, overland style  8)

giving up airtravel, so this is why

though im keeping the procomp shocks, and will again later, with a 20mm spacer kit under each spring  :wink:

Just wondered as i'm considering a 2" lift or to go for Heavy Duty springs, do h/d springs lift it an inch over a standard springs?

@karlo, no the heavy duty springs retain the standard ride height, but if like me your after a mild lift, im gonna fit 20mm spacers under em  :lol:  8)

ah , but ......always a but  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

if the springs you have fitted now are sagging abit then it might raise it up about an inch. i know when i fitted my H/D springs it went up alot....so my old springs had really sagged  :wink:  :wink:

just something else to consider  :wink:

Yes i had thought of this, but mine are quite new with a good ride height, i have read lots of posts about lifting. The ride in gtomo2's v8 disco which has a 1 inch lift seems handle a lot better on the road compared to my TDI its a bit of a minefield really.

jon boy could you tell me what yours measure's from the centre of the wheel  to the wheel arch with the H/D springs on please, so i can compare.

And just to add karlo as well as the h/d springs with 1" lift i also took off my rear antiroll bar. and as mad as it sounds that made a big differance as it dont lean as much around corners as it did with it on

Uh? Surely the idea of an anti roll bar...is that it doesnt roll as much as without it? Taking it off will increase the body roll!  :?

Yea thats what i thought as well. but i think cos the springs are h/d they are stiff anyway and with the lift it just pulled on the anti roll bar. i can nail it into a bend and it dont get body roll if i go slow into a bend you get a bit of roll. i know it dont make sence think i may have progresive springs on  it which would answer that question

I fitted some general grabber at2's  recently and they are cool tyres.

and took it off road at bordon on sunday, it performed brilliantly 8)

i was gonn a just get 235's but after you got 245's i had do the same  8)  8)

Looks seriously nice, what roof rack is that?
1995 Discovery 300 Tdi...steering guard, diff guards, +2" full lift kit/ProComp 9000s, extended braided brake hoses, 265/75/16 MTs on Freestyles, Camel Cut, Team ME4 CB, Southdown snorkel, Defender A-bar and Wipac 4x4s, Forte treatment in anything that moves and a shiny new boot floor!
