« on: February 20, 2007, 23:35:53 »
been offered a vit with a little tax/test on for £300 and going to have a look at the weekend.
The vechicles been taken in as a part-ex at a local garage but I have a friend who works there
can anyone give me a heads up as to what I need to be looking at to make sure I'm not buying a dog

All the normal car points, followed by the age old Suzuki problem "rust" especially around the floor near the back door (lift the carpets have a look) check near the seat belt mounts .Rear arches,if you are handy with the welder its not too much of a problem.
Mechanically they are pretty bulletproof. If you bought it and couldnt fix it you would make your money back breaking it.

Ask the garage to put it through an MOT before you buy it at least you would know what was it would fail on.but at £300 its a cheap motor.

If thats a hard top it was worth £300 just for the top!
I paid £300 for my vit with MOT, CD leccy windows, fab little cars, best value off roader.
Just add mud tyres 195x 15 s are easy to find used as people insist on fitting big rubber but that just messes up the gearing, but de values standard size tyres.
I paid £40 for 4 Colway Ctracs and a dogey spare.
So what other capable off roader can you get for less than £500?????
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

well took it out for its first run in the mud and to put it mildly I'm gobsmacked.
Having only run green oval I wasnt expecting much  but even with just standard road tyres on still managed to keep up with 2 discos with muds/AT's ...now I'll be looking for some muds and some underbody protection....any one know of anywhere I can get bits at goood price  :?:

Oh and I need to know
(a) whats the best way of waterproofing a petrol motor  :?:
(b)Wheres the air intake run to so I can make up a snorkle  :?:

hi m8y
well its good to see another convert from the green oval!!
waterproofing grab one of the wifes marigolds and put over ya dizzy and leads   and get some wd40
snorkle has to come from ur n/s wing take care with water till its fitted as the end of the intake is behind the n/s headlight with not a lot to stop water gettin into it

A cheap lift can be done with a set of long wheelbase Grand Vitara springs they give you 1& 1/2 inch lift for not a lot of money.
