Choke doesn't matter , it won't run well on LPG untill the coolant is warm enough to stop the pressure reducer freezing, so start it up on petrol.
One thing with VV carbs of any type, the venturi will still be moving when on LPG but as there is no petrol present the carb will wear at an accelerated rate, eventually it will run like a cow on petrol, making it harder to start. You also 'should' fit a carb lifter kit (or 2 in fact) to SUs and Stroms.

Have been considering gas kit for a 3.5v8 carbed rangie, but for an Iwema kit + 2 sill tanks -£1200 ! which i think is a bit much.although the tanks are 4 hole and includes carb lifter kit.Yeah i know you can get cheap kits on ebay but I want some thing that will last and not leak/blow up or fall apart.
Have heard stories from reputable installers about cheap polish/eastern euro kits that work for a while......
Is it worth getting a decent bit of kit...........?
Anyone bought directly from Iwema ?

Iwema have been at it a long time, and I always believe you get what you pay for.

most of my new stuff came from iwema.
as i offroad my RRc im ditching the sill tankls for a boot mounted tank, my bendini (i think) vapouriser for a omvl r90e (i have tvr heads that breath a bit more at higher revs) with an ecovac valve from tinleytech and a sprintgas mixer for my webber carb.
all my old stuff has worked well but new heads and carb requires a change
ive found:
http://www.lpg-kits.com/
http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/
and
http://www.iwemalpg.com
all very helpful
