I went on a site visit there to see Minis being built just after the BMW take over.
It is a shame to see it like that now, but that is 'economic progress' for you.
Very interesting website!

No, missed that. I'll have another look.
Looking through the site made me think of all the 'explorations' that I used to do as a kid (and older) around old derelict airfields, bases and other places.
A lot of fun, but I had the perfect cover. My job.

well know we know where all the spare parts can come from. there wont be a shortage for a while by the number of shells that they seem to have stacked up.

and more than likely it will stay like that for years. The meridain building in southampton has been empty for god knows how long and there is still tones and tones of equipment still in there. and they still have security round it.

Interesting point - The Chinese parent own the shells, apart from the salvagable bit which was removed from 'em by X-Power before the Chinese arrived.

I assume you mean X-Part, a trading name of Catapillar. They are now the distribution company for MG Rover parts.

Some cars are worse than others. The cars that were current production at the point of demise are more difficult generally. We are still able to get just about everything for the Mini. Although why anyone would want to pay twice as much for a 'genuine' Mini part is beyond me. Often its the very same item as you get when you buy non-genuine!

Have to agree. But it was virtually guaranteed to fail. The management that bought it were the very same management who failed to manage it before..... you would have thought they'd have figured that

There were, and still are, some cracking good deals to be had if you don't mind not having a warranty. Like full spec 75's at £15k or Mustang engined MG versions at £22k. Both excellent machines if you like that sort of thing. And seriously cheap.

Well well, V8MoneyPit. I used to buy bits from DSNClassics when I was running Barnhillminis. I will be needing some more mini bits soon, I take it then you are the man!
