Steering parts??
« on: March 12, 2007, 14:09:13 »
I'm wanting to fit a set of new track rod ends to my 92 tdi D90, question is how many are left and how many are right hand thread, I really wan't to order the new ones before I strip it down - I thought someone here might know..

Also what's the drop arm ball joint like to swap, am I better getting the whole arm, or are the repair kits OK?

Thanks.. :D

I've used the repair kit for the drop arm ball joint as couldn't be bothered to change the whole arm.
Everything is included in the kit except the arm itself. Simply undo and note in what order everything comes out in, then put everything in the same order with lube.

isn't it 2 track rod ends on the left hand side (looking towards from) and one on the right?
can't remember which side is which thread, not changed them since i had my lightweight.

Just buy 2 of each, they're cheap enough, then you have one spare for future use.

Do you need any special tools for the drop arm ball joint repair kit or can I fit it with my 9/16ths spanner and big hammer???
