my bro in law just phoned me to say his battery light came on then a burning smell he has stoped the engine and the light is still on
the alt belt is still on so what could the prob be?

alternator is f***** :lol: :lol:
all he needs is to replace the alternator
but if he carrys on running it on the road it could set on fire :roll:
he have remove the belt if he wants to carry on driving or just cutting the belt of is quicker, but it is dark outside, so best left until daylight

his is an early 90 2.5td and was just wondering if my 200tdi disco alt will fit as i aint using mine for a little while and could get him out of a muddle

urrm, not sure, afink so, i cant remember what the td alt is , off top of me head, but they r both left hookers so should fit.. o and both r v belts

Alternator is completely different...
How do I know - because I sold a 90 Td one to a bloke at work with a 200Tdi Discovery!! And now have it back as it doesn't fit
