has anyone taken up flying gliders or micro lichts and how much does it cost to be ablle to go solo on gliders

Shoreham Airport dont charge much if i remember rightly, but it was a long time since i knew the bloke who did it down there, if he is still there at all.

used to fly gliders and chipmunk single engine planes and had a few flights in a bulldog. gliders are easyish to fly as they are not as senitive to stick movments as powered planes. Have a look around there will be a glider club near you that will give you some tastry lessons to see if you like it. Its a great feeling to be up in the clouds with just the wind noise and no parachute :shock: .

Thats just part of the fun. the best bit is when you get winched up and when you reach the realise point and find the realise lock is not doing it job and you start to be pulled back down towards the winch that makes your bum twitch. Only happened once that was enough.

hi, my old chap teaches gliding with the air cadets, i can totally recommend it, and i knw about the feeling of being winched back to earth too!
