Steering Wheel
« on: March 23, 2007, 15:45:40 »
I would like to replace the standard issue blue steering wheel on my 1991 200Tdi disco as it's a tad large for my liking. Any of you disco drivers use a smaller wheel from another marque that i may be able to get from a breakers, or does anyone have one and a boss they want to sell?

Try a montego or maestro one, if you want to go smaller try a metro one, I reckon all those should fit specially the montego one.

Well dont take it as gospel but having owned several montegos and a few Land Rovers there are so many parts that look similar and fit.  I would look for a cheap montego wheel first, should find one on ebay easy enough.

One thing I can say for definate is none of the Discovery 1 facelift (94-98) steering wheels will fit or Discovery 2s either.  A range rover classic wheel should fit yours as does I think a series 3.

Incidently, my credentials I actually have a TD5 beige leather wheel with its airbag fitted to my 300TDi at the moment.  I have also seen a Momo steering wheel fitted to a 98-94 Discovery so Momo must make a mounting boss for it which is another thing you can investigate.  only thing I would be a bit cautious of is a smaller wheel may make the steering heavier than it currently is.  I know fitting the slightly larger TD5 wheel to mine has made the steering a bit lighter.

A mate had a nice brwon rover one on his RRC, looke really good even the steering wheel boss matched the steering column shroud shape and colour.

Wish I knew which Rover
Blue,  1988  Range Rover 3.5 EFi with plenty of toys bolted on
Chuggaboom, 1995 Range Rover Classic
1995 Range Rover Classic Vogue LSE with 5 big sticks of Blackpool rock under the bonnet.
