OK puzzled now

ok so this happened yesterday

well today I bypassed the Heater matrix - took the disco for a spin and came back to find bubbles down the side of the header tank, so I dont know whether to chage the header tank and reconnect the heater - or just swap the header until i can get the heater checked out properly!!
Landies are never simple are they?????

book it in for a radiator pressure test. a pump and gauge is connected to thee header tank andair is pumped in to the cooling system if the needle on the gauge drops you've got a coolant leak. By pressurising the system it also makes it easy to find the souce of the leak.

This is a 5 minute test and shouldn't be expensive.

doesnt seem to be pressurised tho! and we stioll have drops at the rear of the engine compartment - usually when stationary after its been running for about 15 mins!!

Headertank on mine leaked last week. There was a split on the seam going around it

well may not need one - had it running today and not a bubble from the seam, or a drop from the back of the engine  :shock:  confused now!

Dude this happened to me and I was completly baffled, turned out my head gasket had gone and because I didnt change it straight away (cuz I didnt know what was wrong) it eventually went bang and cost me a new engine. Get the head checked ASAP.

Without a doubt its the head gasket

It will find the weakest link in the system ie the heater matrix then the cap

DiscoGraham had this as well new gasket solved that, Do it sooner than later

bit of a numpty when it comes to spannering...although i can strip and rebuild motorbikes  :shock:  plus we are supposed to be going away easter weekend :(
any special tools i need?

Completely agree - although my heater matrix went 200 miles after the headgasket was done
