Side Exit Exhaust
« on: March 26, 2007, 15:39:19 »
Hello All,

First post on here although ive been a member a while, i've been lurking in the background.

I want to put a side exit exhaust on my 90 and i was planning on exiting it just in front of the rear wheel on the passenger side, mainly because it looks easier to do.

But, ive been told this could be an MOT failure as the exhaust exit would be too close to the passenger compartment and the short exhaust would also affect the running of the engine and increase the ehaust gas temp.

So it looks like an exit behind the rear wheel but this is more of a pain in the arse and more expensive.

Anybody had this problem or want to give some advice on which is the best option.

Cheers

Adam

I have mine exiting ahead of the wheel, but it's a 110. My MOT tester has seen it (he's a Land Rover enthusiast!) and didn't suggest that it will be a problem.

hehe like the new title Mike. Are you sure you are extreme enough to be worthy of this esteemed title though. Also not sure your 90 has enough bolt on shiny bits to qualify

I feel its worthy, there is no orange or green tat stuck on mine, each part is strategically picked to work with the rest, to make it as capable as possible,

Please remember this is the 90 that followed the portal bob round all the black routes at WITW that anything the PB tackled i followed,

Evolution isnt a process, its an outcome

Cheers Guys,

Think i will stick to the original plan and put in it front of the rear wheel.

What do you mine by the turbo spooling faster? and what are the problems with this?

if it spools harder & faster you get the power quicker, the faster you can get the exhaust gases out the faster you can get the turbo spinning,

there aint no problems with this as it all helps in tweaking a TDi
