An Offer I Can't Refuse
« on: November 23, 2004, 12:52:37 »
Well perhaps.
 I might be 'disposing' of S50 RAT (the vehicle, not the plate)

SWMBO & the in-laws have been talking  :shock:  (I don't like that, it means somethings happening that I have no say-so in :? )

Now that SWMBO has the 'Works Van' (Mondeo) & Father-in-Law has changed jobs within his company (& got a company car), both his Mondeo LX & the FAbia are more or less surplus to requirements.

It's been suggested that I (we) take the 2 cars* (& Discovery ) for me to get another vehicle.
I protested that all mine needs is a damn good service & new suspension (oh & the galvanitic corrosion on the rear near-side wing sorting out)
*1 if we decide to keep the Fabia

But no, SWMBO has spoken!!!

I've been told I might be getting a newer Discovery :cry: (possibly a 'pocket headlamp' Td5)
No! I can't have a Range Rover. Sadly the last 'Classics' were built in 1995
Not so keen on the P38, & can't afford a L322 :cry:

Dare I push my luck & ask for a 110CSW??, & start looking for a 'Heritage' :?:

Could always sell the BWSOW & buy a TVR Griffith instead :D (then again Icould always do a Richard 'Hamster' (Driving God) Hammond & buy a gorgeous '69 Charger 8)  )

**No actual date set for this yet.
It might not actually come to fruition yet, just thought I'd solicit your opinions

I really like the P38 I had, it was an excellent ride, and you couldn't beat it for towing. Also excellent for offroading. Only down side was that absolultely everything is connected to the computer and if you fart near it with the wrong tool in your hand, something needs reseting by the dealer r atleast a responsable adult, with a Rovacom.

So I decided a change was needed, and swapped it for a 110 XS. Brilliant Spec, all the bits you need like heated windows etc. but none of the excess of the range rover or discovery. Brilliant choice if your budget runs to it.

I hate it when the 'crinklies' gang up...

Personally, I love my 110, so would reckonmend anyone to get one :D

......Though, you could always sell the Fabia, and use the money to sort out the Discovery?

Ladies first.
Helen;
The thing is, I like the Fabia - it's a lovely little car with plenty of 'oomph' for local use, economical, easy to park, spacious, very high quality (just not my favourite colour - even after 18months)

'Muky'; Nice idea, but a 440ci (Magnum) engined 110 doesn't bear thinking about - well it does :lol:  :lol:  :wink: (think 7,210cc)
Just think of the noise it'd make as well (oh yes I can hear it now :D )

Steve 'V8';
Quality TV as you say, 2 damn good films as well. Got some D0H websites if you're interested?
Lime green? Nice colour, but it'd have to be 'Hugger Orange'

Andy; You said it :D
A nice 'Heritage' in Bronze green, with green leather seats

'Drum'; I had a 110Tdi (300)Hard-Top & it was great -30mpg & it'd crack an indicated 95mph chasing B*W's
Just a poor turning circle & it didn't have side-window, so poor visibility

Seen an 'XS' at the local main dealer (Guy Salmon - Wakefield)
Liked driving the 4.6HSE, but wouldn't have one, unless it was full LRSH & a 'platinum coated warranty'

Simon; I know someone (a friend of the bro-in-law) with a 'HUMVEE' it's far too big to be remotely practical & it's a 'reverse TARDIS' inside. It's the one on the 'Specialist Leisure' homepage

Not really that keen on the TD5 with the overhang & as for the possible cost of a smashed 'pocket-light' (££!!! :shock: )
Let alone the cost if anything goes wrong with the ACE.

Bottom like for me;
110CSW

7 litre in a 110 CSW, no problem, i was at Samuri, the people who put the 6.5 V8 hummer engines in landrovers, and boats now, and on the ramp was a all black 110 CSW, roll cage, roof rack, nice wheels etc, but the bonnet was up, well, under the bonnet was a 7 litre ford V8, with supercharger, and wait for it, NOS, on the sides and back was a sticker STEALTH.
God knows what happens when you put your foot down, but the gases out the exhaust must have been enough to get to 100mph, in neutral.
 :twisted:

I went to the local main-dealer this morning to get air, oil & fuel filters.
Having done the business, at exorbitant prices (Jim who used to give me trade discount has retired :cry: ),  Iwandered upstairs.
Averting my eyes from the hideousness of the 2 Medusa's on display (D3's) I put a  query to a salesman.
"Can you find out what vehicles are in group stock?"

"Of course sir. What are you interested in?, another Discovery (he'd watched me arrive in it), or a Range Rover?"

"No, a green 110CSW, please" I responded

" :shock:  :? "

"Yes, one of those. Are there any?"

He found one that's perfect

A 2004 '53' plate 110CSW
9,100miles
Epsom Green, with Black cloth
CD player, electric windows, central locking
With a price of .........

An one problem to even viewing the vehicle......

Well it's a bit more than I think I'll be allowed to spend :) :wink:

And it's in Warwickshire, Stratford-upon-Avon to be precise, although;

Hmmm, must admit many years ago I had a Skoda, and it wasn't a bad car. No Im not going to hang my head in shame! :wink:

If your after 110CSW you could also try these guys, ( where I got mine from) They have loads and they are fairly priced. Check out the website first, but I'd also ring, ask for Ted and he knows his stuff.

They do have a high turn over of stock, and are a bit far out, but what the  hell, it's worth a check on the web.
