OK, so if somebody cares for the environment, not only are they a tree-hugger, but now they're a communist as well.  Bring back ducking stools.  Thanks for elevating the level of debate.

I said I found it funny, I didn't say that I found it to be a particularly valid observation ...

People are entitled to believe in whatever they wish, ironically that also applies to political ideology,  although I don't happen to believe that communism actually works, as soon as you factor humans into the equation it all goes a little bit hairy :(

perhaps what I should state, or bring to the debate is that I found this on a US forum discussing taxes on the industry for environmental reasons and found it to be rather typical (or at least stereotypical) of the view that was being thrown around.

There is an interesting counterpoint between enforcing environmental responsibility and restricting choice, especially when what is being enforced is determined seemingly without rhyme, reason, or much attention paid to all elements of the debate.

And as for bringing back dunking stools, providing we're talking about the light hearted village fete version, why not ;)

Didnt think there was anything to debate.
Enviromentalists are either wackos or nieve followers of a false god. I suppose there is an argument for the point of view that many just like bandwagons though. :D

The United States - birthplace of McCarthyism.  As a Macchiavellian tool of war it works well on many levels (there are neat elements of NLP in something which is fundamentally a drawing of a melon) and it's a clever piece of propaganda.  I'll tone down my initial comment and say perhaps to post it without the qualification you now add was to invite controversy.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say political environmentalists

Doesn't really matter if it's an accurate statment or not, providing it aquires the right results
