There are different perkins engines, depending on what the original vehicle was, the engine could have come from a wide variety or uses, car, marine, agricultre...
Some are low revving like the 4203, others rev a bit higher, you shouldn't have any problems with the perkins prima turbo'd 2.0l from a Montego, though you may have to watch your off road use being as the sump is not designed to be at silly angles like the LR engines are.
Some are better than others, and all return a reasonably MPG, some more reasonable than others.
