Reading maps...

OK...im looking at an OS 1:50000 scale map of my county and I have all the byways marked...

now what about the tracks that look like this:

Am i right in assuming they are just small roads/tracks and, unless they are on private ground, legal to drive on?

I take it that you are showing black lines like a minus sign(-)

These are 'Other Road or track'  They may have any status or indeed none.

So without a visit to the local ROW Dept they should be assumed NOT to have any legal right of way.

OS maps are not definative and are only correct at time of printing (assuming they are correct then), its best to check all byways on the definitive maps of the area.

Pink dots on the OS map are Other Routs with Public Access (ORPA) some of which are UCRs which have vehicle rights, but not all so need checking against a list the councils list of streets.

If you want a up date info on byways try wayfinder web site .You may well have to pay to use it .Or way not try the local council sites as the one in cambs shows the byways etc
