removing chevy lump from rangie

i am thinking of buying a chevy engine but i have to remove it from a range rover what i need to know is when you boys change engines do the come out the top or can they be droped through the bottom?

top, cos of the chassis cross sections and the engine mounts.  Unless you want to find a way to lift the car off the engine which is surely alot harder!

thats all i needed to know as i wasnt sure if the cross members unbolt
its fitted into an overfinch so i have to be very carefull when removing it i was kind of hoping to leave the gearbox attached hence trying to get it from underneath.

Engine through the top, the engine mounting brackets catch the sides of the Rover V8 and IIRC the overfinch mounts are beefed up too.

Box through the bottom, unbolt the crossmember unless it'sold enough to have removeable seat boxs and floor section.

You can lift the engine and box out together if you have enough clearence, FLT and a ramp should do it :roll:

If you can lift the body it's the easiest way, there are less things to remove in truth, again FLT comes in handly.

cheers for the info flt would be a problem as the lump is 140 miles away and i aint treking my wheel digger that far lmao
