In light of the recent campaigns to ban and / or penalise 4x4's using the UK's towns and cities, a new website has been launched to counter some of the arguments and accusations levelled at 4x4 owners.
The site aims to send a message out to owners of 4x4 vehicles that they are not alone, and that the hype surrounding the anti-4x4 campaign is largely based on selective information and biased opinion.
Please visit the site, and if you agree with the sentiment, spread the word !
Tell anyone you know who owns a 4x4, not just enthusiasts... but normal people. Get them to join the campaign and show the powers that be that there are real people behind these issues.
Visit the site :

How about a count of people registering on the petition (when the number is large enough of course) ?

I know we don't usually do this on Mudclub but....
Me too!
Well done to those involved.
As an extra to Tim's comment on driving experience.
In my time driving in 28 years I have had 3 speeding convictions and 4 accident claims. In 3 blame was attributed to the other parties and very minor damage in a slow speed collision when I had only been driving for three years.
I wouldn't be surprised to find that there are many others with the same sort of driving record as we are enthusiasts and many of us drive in connection to their work.
I've also done more miles than I'd like to remember having covered over 130,000 miles a year.
Yes it's quite easily possible.
Ask Bev or Ian.

First class job, well done.
I'm signed up, now to add my 2 penneth.
Euro N-cap. It would appear from having tried all the 'usual suspects' before buying my Micra that in order to get the full 5 stars a car needs to be more than safe, it needs:
A buzzer to tell you your seat belt isn't fitted,
A buzzer/warning light to tell you the handbrake is still on,
and a host of other 'this car must be owned by an idiot' little things to relieve the owner of the trouble to think for himself.
I don't think the N-Cap test shows us quite what we think it does, I mean, a car that tells you when you drift out of your lane? that's there purely to gain extra brownie points from N-Cap. Personally I find that the rumble from the cat's-eyes does the trick, or maybe WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING, oh no... hang on.....that means I have to think doesn't it?

Signed up. Excellent site. Shame we have to have a website to defend 4x4's. Don't recall anyone complaining about using them in the army, or police use, or mountain rescue, fire brigade, recovery services ......
