8V Carb to CFi
« on: April 24, 2007, 08:40:34 »
CFi Conversion 8V

I know its possible, just building up a checklist of bits.

Obviously the CFI unit
Fuel Pump and Filter
ECU + loom (or make a loom)
Sensors and throttle body
Will need to botch an air filter.
Anything else?
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Central Fuel Injection AKA Single Point Injection AKA Throttle Body Injection.

Its the FI system that isnt sure if its a carb or injection system. You effecitvely still have a carb but a single injector in the center of the body does the work. Its not much better than a carb asall the problems with intake lengths, fuel condensing etc are still there but its insensitive to angle and a lot simpler than the stupid Vit carb, and more reliable/economical.

Cheers for that.  I thought that's what you meant, just never heard it called CFi before.

My mate Andy has just done exactly this on his Vit.  Swapped the entire engine/loom/dash/tank from carb to Fi.  He finished it yesterday :)

I don't think you've missed anything on your list other than 'distributor' - unless you can get away with the original one ? ?

Rebuilt two CFi sidekicks and from what I recall its the same dizzy. Might even be able to get away with the tank.

really need to get down the scrappers and find one and work out how it all connects in conjunction with the book of lies.
