well, it's goodbye Terrano and hullo New Defender.
Just shook hands on buying a new vehicle.
A bit of haggling, and a good trade-in sealed the deal \:D/
Now comes 3 months wait :-({|=

The wait may be more than 3 months depending on how well they sort out the self detonating Transit lump fault.

Needless to say, once you do get one, from what I have heard about them, you'll like it.

I'm glad to hear someone else is going for one. Congratulations!

What's taken your fancy? We're going with a 110 SW.

My 2007 110 Defender has still not arrived and it seems dealers and Customer Control have not a single idea the reason for the delay. Order control are keeping schtum.

Obviously with rumours flying around the interweb that the engine is dodgy, i decided to take matters into my own hands.

Through some not so clever detective work, i obtained the phone number for the Lode Lane factory in Solihull and was put through to someone on the shop floor with access to a computer.

An absolute legend (although i don't know his name) went through the system and confirmed that my 110 had been built along with another 500. He said that the cars were 100% correct with NO engine trouble at all, but that LR had been let down at the begining of April by a manufacturer who made a component for the seats. LR have had to retrieve their machinery and find a new manufacturer to build the part. He said that the problem started a month ago so should be resolved very soon.

So, fingers crossed it shouldn't be long. I know Terranger is on a waiting list anyway, so his order shoudln't be affected, but for anyone else who's waiting for delivery now - that's the reason for the wait.

The guy in the factory was quite blunt about it all and told me that they don't tell Order Control and Customer Services anything because "they're just a bunch of girls in a call centre." I see his point.

Is there anyone else in this boat?

I had my first proper look at one in the local main-dealer a few days ago (a 110 Hard-Top)
The interior is very impressive, with no rattles from a firmly grasped (& shaken) dash, decent instrument display which will probably be better at night?
The gearbox feels tight with very little throw between ratios.

The gutters on the roof appear to be far better sealed than in the past. Have they eventually cured the leak problem (assisted by doing away with the front-vents?, ie; no seals to leak??)

I still find it a pity that they didn't take the opportunity to upgrade the lighting (indicators, side & tail/stop) by fitting the 'NAS' diameter units, as used for fog  & reverse.
The larger ones are immensely superior in light output (an amalgamation of materials used & physical size) on an unlit road they actually cause a glare on the road surface at the rear of the vehicle!!

I'll have to nip back down &  see when they've got one available for test-drives :D

Ahh, the seat thing - not quite as yon chap describes but...

Certainly there's been nowt on the grapevine about dodgy engines and certainly all the Puma derivatives in cars are going well. The Transit had a clutch probelm, caused it seems by the spec of the engine compared to the clutch, but LR are still fitting their own clutch so that isn't the problem. Anyone any more details or is the rumour mill still at full chat?

Hope the vehicle arrives soon!

Cheers
