missing child in portugal

Whilst I don't condon what the parents have done or did the fact is its been done, it can't be undone and they have to live with their mistake. I have a little girl who is 7 months and by chance is also called Maddy, seeing the distress that her mother is going through it makes me feel sad as I would never want to be in that situation. Now I never leave my little girl anywhere for a second but I think its fair to say that at some point every parent has done it, no matter how longer/shorter time or where or when.
My parents love me to bits and are not irresponsable people and I wouln't hear anyone saying otherwise but I remember my parents leaving me alone in the car every week whilst they went shopping at the supermarket and we went to look at a house to buy that was located about 50 miles away from where we lived and again I waited in the car.
If they find her alive and please god they do or not alive then they have to live with that for the rest of their lives. I do agree that as doctors they should know better or used the babysitter duties but its done now so no point saying "well I would of...."

Lets just pray that she is found and also that the portugal police step it up as so far I think they have been so lapse.

On a different whim, the mother looks distraught but he looks calm and collected....hmm :-k

On what do you base that comment?
If it's what you read in the tabloids and hear on the telly, how can you believe it?  Media frenzy as mentioned before.  Last week anti 4x4's, this week missing child, next week anti 4x4's again . .
I'm sure they are doing all they can, and that the truth will out one way or another.

True I am going on what I watch and read but thats all we can all go on. Your probably right about they're doing all they can but with portugal law they clam up and don't say anything so from an outsider looking in, as the whole world is you go on what you read or see.

As for a media frenzy, if I was in the position they are in and my daughter was missing then I would try and get as much exposure as I could. Imagine it - foreign country, foreign police etc etc, would you not do the same :?:

Let's hope they find her safe and sound, THEN worry about the idiocy of the parents!

Quiet Dinners Without The Kids...... :?:

Lotty (5) and I have been out for a curry tonight...... Amanda had a school govonors meeting and I was starving.... Lou wanted Crispy Pancakes (poppodoms) And Chicken And White Rice..... because she was hungry we stayed and didn't get a take-a-way....

Lou and I eat out together, alone a lot...... actually I take lou out for dinner just the two of us more than Amanda and I eat out alone!

Amanda and I wouldn't dream of purposely leaving lou at home with a sitter just to go out and eat....

Mexican, Italian, Chinky, Indian, portugese.... Lou loves it all.... for me / us it's more fun with her there than not.... I won't evn start with holidays!

find Maddy soon!

Ok, your child never leaves your sight, never :?: when you hang your washing on the line does your child go out with you rather that play in the house. I know it seems far fetched but you do hear about all sorts of stories and what my point was that no matter how far fetched or how small, parents do leave their children alone at some point, you can't 24/7/365 have your child in your sights.

But ok then you haven't but what I was getting at is that its no good saying who was to blame and I wouldn't do this or that, the main thing is to find her safe and well and then once she is safe go into the whys and hows.

Thats just my views, yes I'm angry about the circumstances but you can see they are suffering and as stated - priorities - find her first then go out and lynch them.

Two weeks on and still no concrete evidence, no sightings, not really even a prime suspect.  While we all hope things turn out well I cannot help becoming rather irked.

As others have already mentioned, these were intellegent individuals, doctors no less, and as such are both very highly paid compared with most of us.  I cannot believe that they do not have a nanny or au-pair at home to look after the children.  If they are too damn lazy to look after them themselves  why did they take them on holiday - there seem to be plenty of people at home who could have had them for a couple of weeks even if there is no nanny.
Why not even pay for the nanny to go on holiday with them? They could certainly afford it.  Parents could have had kids in the day leaving nanny time to herself, and nanny could have babysat at night.  Seems they were not happy about pushing  them round in buggies.

Either way, the only word that springs to mind is SELFISH.

Likewise, the way we are all expected to 'do our bit' in the search.  The way that the parents and friends have buttonholed MPs and especially the media is somewhat distasteful;  I know we should all be concerned but to have MPs wearing yellow ribbons is crass in the extreme and may also be counter-productive; if I had kidnapped someone and the world and his pet dog were sending out search-parties the first thing I would do is get rid of the evidence as far out to sea or down the deepest darkest hole I could find. I sincerely hope the intense media attention does not panic the abductor/s into this corse of action.

And by spending time writing this I supose I am adding to the frenzy ...

 why should they have nanny, lets get some perspective, here, regardless of salary and occupations a little girl has gone missing, that is priority in finding her. I have three chlidren as well and i feel qualified to
stating a point. Lets just imagine you are put in to this horrible situation, hindsight is a wonderful thing, maye going out for a meal  with the kids in bed wasnt such a good idea. But please do not Judge these parents on the crap that is spewed out by the media. We all like to think we are perfect, but until a horrible situation happens to us then we have to deal with it. I   think the suffering and uncertainty by the parents is enough.

I think to generalise as selfish is wrong, you dont know them personally only through what the media tells you.

I hope and pray she is found, but as time goes on its looking more unlikely

I totally agree, what the parents did was out of order, and hopefully they will get Maddie back safe and be able to reflect on how stupid they both were then, suffer the criticism they will undoubtedly receive.
Though if I were in the same predicament I would be doing exactly the same thing to highlight the situation and make it the talking point of the day, only today I have received several e-mails from the chain e-mail her uncle has sent out, if anyone wants it to forward on, PM me.
Talking as a father of two young girls, I do hope she is found safe and well, it would destroy me if I lost any of my kiddies under any circumstance.

 unlikely

the fact they were boozing it up with friends whilst their three tiny childeren were left frightened and alone in strange surroundings ticks the selfish box for me... as i said earlier, i really hope they find her but those parents deserve the pain they are feeling...

if they were a couple of 18 year old chav parents, social services would have taken the other kids away by now...

I just hope if and when she is found someone brings them to account...

I agree with what you say, and also having two kiddies, as a parent you are right the number one priority are your children before anything else, and it beggars belief that they left them to go and have dinner
Though I can honestly say I don't beleive thay have sold them.
I hope and pray, she is returned safe, then the parents can face the music, for which they deserve.
