Polybushing

Hi all.

I need to replace a lot of the bushes on my 1994 Disco. I've been told different tales and tips by different folks. Some say easy, some say a nightmare, heat em up, burn em out etc.

I can get access to a workshop press but it will be a bit of a pain cos i cant take the car there - no space.

Has anyone used this bushwaka thing or anything similar?

I've never used one of them, but they sound interesting

Usually have acces to an hydraulic press

If you have enough stands, and can prop up one axle at a time, remove the arms and transport them down to the press, it would be easier

Or see if someone has an old set of arms you could use, get them pressed out then set up ready for the swap over, returning the arms to your mate ready pressed out when you have finished

Hi.

When I changed mine - I drilled all of the rubber out, pushed out the centre tube, carefully hacksawed the outer tube, then bashed hell out of what remained.

WHAT A COMPLETE PAIN.

Take a tip and use a hydraulic press.

I took my trailing arms into work tonight and asked the fitters to remove
the bush's

And i quote "kin ell mate it took 1&1/2 ton to move them and they went with one ell of a bang , nearly [PooPoo]'d myself" :shock:  :shock:

so i think a good press will be needed :D

You want to be on a 10 ton press if you can get near it.

Yeap, burning them out, total pain, did the panhard rod and radisu arms that way.  Not doing the rear end, I think polybush is too hard for EAS and now that I've done Blue completely I find the front end too stiff.

Good idea for the panhard rod though, easy to do and cheap to swap on a regular basis.
