Not done it myself, but apparently it's relatively simple. The disco 200 Tdi uses the same engine mounts as the Series 3, the Defender engine would only use three of the same.

You will need to cut out part of your battery tray if it's under the bonnet. Apart from that, have a search on the forum for 200 tdi conversion (or something similar), there should be plenty of posts on it.

Friend of mine showed me how a series bell housing would mount directly onto the back of the engine, you need to drill and tap a couple of holes at the most

Also change to a series clutch to match the splines on the box

Srs 3 Lightweight petrol (got to go)
Srs 3 Lightweight petrol, runabout

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

i put a defender 200tdi in mine

i had to modify the drivers side engine mount
i had to make mounts to take the 200tdi radiator
i used a defender 300tdi intercooler
i bodged an exhaust together with some straight 2.5" pipe i bought.
it bolted straight to the series gearbox, i had to remove 1 stud as the hole is in the wrong place.

other than that, it was quite straight forward
