i have a 200 tdi discovery, iwas just seeing what speed i could get out of it today, i noticed when i hit 3000 revs in 3rd gear it wont go above that and i have to change gear . is that the maxinmum,ive never noticed before, i was just having a mad moment :)

had a similar problem myself in the past.

Air getting into the fuel perhaps. :cry:

my disco revs to about 3500rpm and thats a disco so no control over when it changes gear. I think it may have gone to 4000rpm once. I know the rev counter doesnt go much higher!!!

Your rev limiter may have been set at 3k??

I had mine at 4500 once but that was really hammering the living daylights out of it! That was when the rev counter was working properly, when I first got it, it would apparently rev up to past 6000 and hit the water temperature needle!
