Britpart shocks??
« on: May 21, 2007, 21:48:33 »
Hi all

I need new shocks.

I have a 2 inch lift on the rear with spacers, and have some RR Classic springs to go on the front which should give around 1.5inch lift and 10-15% uprate........  but I have seen Paddocks doing a 2inch lift kit (springs and shocks) for not much more than 4 Pro-Comp shocks without springs.

So my question is:  Does anybody have any experience of the Britpart Super Gaz shocks??

I like the idea of an enclosed shock rod (don't like the silly boots), and have heard some bad reviews on ProComps, but also some very good ones, but have heard nowt re the newish Britpart items.

Hi Doris

I bought the Britpart 2" lift kit back in February, the ride is a little stiffer and the vehicle doesnt bounce around as much as it used to (the old shocks were well past their best), and its lifted the vehicle enough to squeeze 265/75/16 insa turbo special track's in the wheelarches with only minimal trimming.

MM4X4 sell the shocks for £21 each, dont forget to buy front turret retaining rings, the bolts always snap off.

If you read the adverts they quote the same part number for the shocks regardless of whether you have standard or raised suspension, that's because the shocks are only really suitable for standard suspension as they do not have sufficient travel for a 2" lift and will therefore limit your axle travel.
The only alternative with these is to fit shock droppers or fit a pair of decent +2" shocks.

I didn't find out until I read the small print on the box after I had fitted them
