It's not quite finished yet. 8-[

This for fresh or salt water?

Salt water that wont last too long, having had trailers snap from corrosion I would recomend you get it galvanised if its going near salt water :)

Its no fun when you suddenly have 3 1/4 of a trailer with one wheel at 30mph

Even less fun if you are in the public loos when the stub axel and wheel rip the door off its hinges
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

What were you doing in the Public loos with your trailer for it to rip the door off its hinges? That sounds a little bit pervy, if you ask me!

Only Mc Joking.

Are you doing that right now? I get so jealous when i know that people are doing fun jobs outdoors for pleasure, when i'm behind my desk.

To aid your digital age practice, let's see some pictures of the boat. Make me even more jealous!

On my top ten list for when i've won the Scrottery is a decent RIB and/or a Riva Aquarama. I can't chose which

A good looking proper job! No plastic gin palaces there, glad to see.

I'm sure you've had some good fishing off the back. Good luck with the build.

Nice boat. Not quite what I'm after in a boat but dad would kill for that :)

Last boat was a cathedral hull open power boat with twin 50HP mercury engines. Well when both ran. She was stolen while I was out the country :( Really want to get something else though.

Cheers

One of these days I'll get something bigger for taking out large parties.

It does the job just now Should have been in the water 1sy April but alas the old trailer was getting tired. New trailer would have been above my financial capability so decided to make my own.

Getting it square and cutting the steel will be a pain but eventually I hope to get there in the end.

thats a strong hedge you have it resting on at the moment.

How long are your rods? Must be quiet hard to get the hooks to land in the water from there but catching 365 in a day obviously means you have got the nack of it!!

Hi there muddyjames

Rods are short boat rods about 5 ft.

Your dead right I am really getting hacked off with the boat sitting stopping the hedge from growing.

I need to get out there on the water. The reason I get rained of is co's I'm using 180amp mig welder which doesn't like getting wet. The wind blows the argon away so I canny weld.

Hoping tommorrow is better and will try and post progress.

Cheers dude :)

Do you work on trailers or boats or both?

My old boat is an Islander work boat I use a Yamaha 50 on the back as in outboard I don't think Stern drives are any use  for long term work boats mine sits on a mooring all summer it just comes out for worst of the winter months.

I decided on an outboard.

I recon the trailer will be fun to line up but hey I'll have a go. :?

Yarr,
there be lots of nautical nattering going on on this here thread, shiver me timbers, splice the mainbrace, weigh anchor and keel haul the cabin boy!
I can't see what the attraction is going out all day and coming back smelling of fish! Mind you, I used to work in Great Yarmouth, which had much the same effect!

if its a yammy 50 4 stoke....undo the steering cable..slide it out the through tube, cut the cables...undo the 4 bolts and kick it off the back

and invest in some oars

work on boats and do trailer repairs,
trust me, its conna be a ( what a femail dog is called)

wouldnt it be cheaper buy a trailer ?

its gonna have be twin axle, so a complete axle to take that weight your talking of 500 quid each with cables ect

and trust me its cheaper buy a complete axle rather than bits at a time

work out cheaper

Hi Dan

I have had the yamaha for 7 years now worked it hard and serviced it regularily so far so good looks like new and runs like a dream.

A trailer would have cost at least a couple of grand so it was out of the question.

Second hand ones are usually past their sell by date.

I don't need to move the boat for long distances so I'm not fussed about any high speck stuff it's mainly to store her on and get her in and out of the water which is no more that a few miles away.

So long as she runs and stops I can't ask for much more. I will make 2 axles and have 4 indespension units "galvanised ones which are ready to bolt on.

Shes 1.5 ton all up with life rafts etc so the trailer will have a double beam

both runners 4mm thick steel so hopefully things will fit ok.

I'll give you a shout when things get out of hand. :?
