I remember my m8 having a mk2 escort xpack with lovley deep dished RS 4spoke alloys

he got an xpack 3.0s capri after that

my mate still has his rs2000 with x pack in his garage,its ford signal green with the black stripes,mmmmmmmmm nice,i wanna buy it off him but its missin the back axle lol

my mate had an x pack 3.0 capri, he bought it from penelope keith (to the manor born an all that), back in the early eighties, he used it for sprinting, shame, needless to say its life ended rather early.

That's certainly a fair (if awful) representation of the X-Pack

It was indeed available for the Escort & Capri.

But didn't the Mk1 Fiesta also have a pack of sorts? (pre- XR2)

Some items were also available for the Mk 2 Granada as well?



X-Pack 1 Remember the photo of 'RVX 693R' very well, it made quite an impression on me as an 11year old

the guy i knew was from when i used to live in west london.

I think the capri mk3 looked best, along with the mk2 rs2000

my mates 3.0s had a weslake engine in it  with triple downdraught webers - awesome , and at a time when the 2.8i was all the rage this thing used to show them a nice set of tail pipes!

:D And dont forget the Warrior kit on the first mk3 rs turbo, made by Zackspeed i think?...  I also remember the Minder kit you could get for the mk 2 escorts.  OH! they were the days, before speed cammeras and speed bumps. Before anyone shouts at me i think they are a good thing in the right places. Phew just got that one in.....  :wink:

:D  My favourate car ever owned was a 1978 sd1 rover 3500 v8 manual. Everyone turned and stared when i drove past, it made a lovely sound. And to this day my love for the humble v8 carries on....  :D

Yes the Rover Sd1 was a beautiful car, shades of the 'Fast Fiat' (Ferrari) Daytona at the nose

:D  Now and again when i remember, i go to Oulton Park to watch the classic thunder saloon races. Its great to see these old cars still pushing the pedal to the metal and the sound they make is unbaleiveable. OH i want one now cant get them out of my head.

Yeah i used to have a 3.0s mk11, bought it for £300 quid many a year ago owner thought gearbox was knackered, only turns out to be the clutch rusted solid on flywheel, cost £100 quid to put right. Scared the hell out of me though 4 speed manual and plenty of grunt made for a scary ride in the wet. Sold that and buoght another sporting classic the Fiat 2.0l Twin Cam Mirrafiori Sport now that was a quick motor. But rusted quicker than i could repair it. :(  But my Rover 3.5 was the best. My older brother had a 280 capri Brooklands that was a lovely car to drive. Dont see many Capris now :(

I know what you mean. I think the goverments far to p.c and enviromentally stuck up to go back to the good old days, shame really. It would be nice to find a good example of a 280 capri, would have to run it on gas nowa days ( cost of fuel etc ).

:D Oh well at least ive got my Rangie it also makes a lovely deep burble as i trundle down the road ( even on gas ). And considering all the hype about 4x4s at the moment youde be surprised how many people come up to me and questions about it, like what engines init and how the bobtail was done etc etc. And live in a relatively small town so i geuss 4x4s arent that bad after all.

 That is an absolute minter and only 3 owners. Pity i cant afford a second car that Capri is well worth the asking price. Looks good enough to show. :shock:

Aaaahhh - the good old Capri, I had a Calypso (red over silver with pepperpot alloys) at the tender age of 18. Unfortunatley stuffed it head on into a 7.5ton Merc :shock: Bonnet up to windscreen and split engine block on bulkhead. Copper said I was lucky to be alive let alone walking and I was crying in back of ambulance - paramedic tried reassuring me I would be OK to which I replied I was crying because it was only insured 3rd party :?

This'll upset some of you then, I scraped a Capri just yesterday.

Needed some parts for Julie's '74 MkI facelift, now there is a pretty car!

And I remeber the start of minder, he buys the MkII Crapi but in the background spot both the X-Pack and the Harrier, many of which live on (at great expense).  I remember the launch of that car, when Ford pulled out of rallying in 1979.

But don't get X-Packs confused with forest arches, that's another kettle of fish altogether.

Best of the lot has to be a bubble-arched MkI Escort, in black, just like my favourite Scalextric car.







P.S.  If you need an axle for that RS2000 I can ask around for you!

The Mirafiori 131 Sport :D , that was the 2-door in bright orange, black 'towelling' seats, black Alloys & Pirelli P6 tyres, & 4 head-lamps.
Nice car, my dad had a standard 131 for a while.

Italian Edition 131Sport?

The 280Brooklands was the 'run-out' model in a very nice shade of green with 7-spoke alloys.

Now who remembers series 2 of 'The Proffesionals'?  Bodie had the nice MkII Capri in gold with vinyl roof and doyle had the white 3.0l with X-Pack and super wide alloys.  The later didn't get used much, probably too thirsty.  I read somewhere that they had a total of 7 Capris between them over 5 series.
